Optimization and Operational Analysis of Domestic Greywater Treatment by Electrocoagulation Filtration Using Response Surface Methodology

Greywater is the most sustainable option to address growing need for fresh water. This study aimed identify optimal operation variables of an electro-coagulation filtration (ECF) system treating domestic greywater, using different conditions (e.g., electrode combinations (Al-Fe-Al-Fe), initial pH (6.8–8.4), operating time (10–60 min), and voltage (6–24 volts)). A statistical data analysis was performed evaluate experimental modeling chemical oxygen demand (COD), total dissolved solids (TDSs), turbidity, chloride removal effectiveness, almost ranging from (85 94%), respectively, with energy consumption response surface methodology (RSM) ANOVA test. When comparing predicted model values, it proved that fairly describes values R2 determined >0.99 COD, TDSs, chloride, consumption, suggesting a regression sustainability model. The sludge properties were characterized scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), FTIR spectroscopy, which indicated organic matter during ECF, similar in composition, independently applied used. results this suggest ECF significantly reduces pollutants load showing aluminum-iron-based electrodes as viable treat greywater operational costs (0.12 0.4) US$ m?3 under parameters. establishes path treatment technology economical environmentally responsible wastewater management leads sustainability.
